Denver, CO Have you ever walked thru the forest and wondered if your are being watched by animals you don't see. Yes, you are being watched! I was out in a Cottonwood forest with a friend looking for Great Horned Owls to photograph. At one point in the morning search we stopped in an area we had already searched the trees to discuss where to go next, what camera settings we were using etc. After several minutes I looked up from our cameras and boom there it was... the distinctive outline of a GHO head in the crook of a tree we had already looked at. I blurted out "Is that an owl!" in complete disbelief we had missed it just 30 yards away. Using it's outstanding natural camouflage the GHO had been eavesdropping on our conversation yet was gracious enough to sit for 20 minutes and let us quietly move around and photograph it. I love these moments when you suddenly realize you are NOT the most aware creature in the forest. You ARE being watched!
